EDUCATION FOR ENTERPRISE
ONLINE ARTS EDUCATION MATERIAL TO COMPLEMENT PRINTED RESOURCES

When the Ministry of Education wanted to provide schools and business with a website that presented the picture of education for enterprise, CWA's multi-disciplinary team provided the solution.
The Need
Education for Enterprise (E4E) is a teaching and learning initiative which aims to help young people to develop skills for the 21st century. It focuses on those competencies, understandings, and attributes that will equip them to be innovative, and to identify, create, initiate and successfully manage personal, community, business and work opportunities.
To support teachers and learners, the Ministry of Education needed an online presence which would display best practice in education for enterprise. It also needed to keep learning audiences up-to-date with the initiative, and to provide a database where businesses could register to be involved.
The Innovation
CWA developed a comprehensive online collection which reflected and extended the print and video materials. The collection contains examples from schools of their music planning, including school-wide policy development and music programmes, plus full unit plans and learning ideas.
CWA New Media brought together a team skilled in video production, web design, programming, and communication.
As well as presenting online information and professional readings, CWA's video unit researched and filmed a range of digital stories to illustrate the thinking and strategies that can be applied to education for enterprise. This provided students with insights into what is involved in purposeful business enterprise, and in building relationships with local communities, businesses and schools.
The resulting rich media website, hosted within the Ministry’s bilingual portal for schools “Te Kete Ipurangi”, enables audiences to share in the stories of schools who are striving to offer new opportunities for their students. As well, it provides an invitation for businesses to assist in shaping the workforce of the 21st century.
