Te Kete Ipurangi

Inspirational meeting place for educators

As a key member of The Learning Centre Trust, CWA New Media developed Te Kete Ipurangi for the New Zealand Ministry of Education in 1999 to give all those involved in education a bi-lingual meeting place to share resources and find inspiration.

Te Kete Ipurangi means ‘The basket of the Internet’ in Māori. The traditional flax basket is a recurring motif throughout the site. These baskets, still in every day use in New Zealand are associated in Māori proverb and mythology with the concept of sharing. "…nau te rourou, naku te rourou, ka ora te manuwhiri" …with your food basket and my food basket everyone will be fed.
